Build A One Page "Killer" Website

So what’s the principle point of your website?

ANSWER: To sell!

You want each and every visitor to your website to whip out their credit card and buy your product before leave.

That goal may sound like craziness to you. Maybe you are thinking, "Get a grip Michael, not every last person is going to buy from me."

Yeah...yeah...it's true that not every last person will purchase, and there are a couple of secondary possibilities that you should have in mind as a backup (more on these shortly). But unless you strongly focus on the idea that your objective is for your visitor to purchase, you’ll build a website that tries to do too many other things. A successful sales based website cannot be all things to all men. So don’t try and build that kind of site in the first place.

Think in terms of One Long Page

Now here’s what you need to do to sell a product or service online. Go ahead and build a simple one-page website that leads to one inevitable conclusion: the "Order Now" button.

Wow, that sounds simple, but how is this possible?

Your job is to persuade your potential purchaser to pick up a copy of whatever you’re selling. And chances are it’s either going to happen right here, right now, on impulse – or not at all.

In other words, you must lead your prospect through the entire sales process -- from the first prick of interest in whatever you sell, to an engaging middle section that arouses deep interest and then desire. Finally, you need to stir the "must have" mentality in your customer.

Right now I would like you to take a look at an example of one of my sites Easy Ezine Toolkit.

These are the relevant points:

• You are looking at one long page. In fact if you print this website out it covers around 12 US size sheets of paper.

• There is almost nowhere for the potential customer to get distracted, so the only option is to continue reading by scrolling down the page.

• At the bottom of the page there is only one course of action offered: Buy Now.

The Sales Copy is the "Be All and End All".

I come from a graphic design and printing background and had always believed that people would only purchase a product if it was well-designed and looked good.

Now I’ve amended my previous belief.

Today, I am utterly convinced that, as far as these types of eProducts are concerned, people will buy if your sales copy sends them the right message. Period!

Now, if you are the type to spend hours messing around with pretty graphics, banner headings and worst of all, Flash, then you may feel disappointed about the point I’ve just made.

But rather than waste days, weeks, or months trying to prove me wrong – please just take my word for it.

It is the words on your page that will sell your product. The graphics and everything else take second place.
