How To Promote Your Product And Website

Let's face it. You can create a product every bit as compelling as the bible, but if you don't promote it properly, few people will ever buy what you have to offer!

So without STEP FIVE, you can forget your entire online business.

You need to get traffic to your website, and what's more, it needs to be highly targeted. Gone are the days when people thought that just because you have a high number of visitors, someone will buy your product. NOT TRUE! I'd rather have a fraction as many visitors, but know that every last one of them is in the market for exactly what I have to offer.

How to Market your Product using Search Engines
Of course you realize that you need to promote your sales website on the search engines, but how exactly are you going to do this?

Well, nothing beats getting listed for free, and ideally, high up in the results. But did you know that nowadays, not all that many search engines actually accept ADD URL submissions?

So you're going to have to work smarter than ever before to get yourself listed on page #1 of any good quality search engine.

Don't worry, it is still possible to do, and in my full toolkit, show you precisely how to achieve a top listing. So let me show you the results...

Type "write a newsletter" into everyone's favorite search engine, Google (no need to include the quotes).

Now, that's my How To Write A Newsletter Toolkit at position #1.

Obviously, holding a number-one position on your most significant keywords is going to be vital to your success. If you'd like to replicate this for yourself, may I invite you to check out my full Create and Sell Products Online Toolkit?

Another software that helps you in Search Engine Ranking is Niche Finder. To find out how this works, click here to download a demo of Niche Finder Software.

Does Cloaking Work?

Wait a minute...I'm getting ahead of myself.

First of all, what exactly is cloaking?

It's a method of convincing the search engines that you have a more extensive and more relevant website than you really do. It's achieved by using software that presents one version of your website to real people who come to browse, but a specially optimized version of your website when the search engines come looking.

WARNING: Cloaking is highly controversial and viewed by some as cheating. If you're curious you can find out more about cloaking using this piece of software.

Paying to reach the Top

In the above example, I haven't paid a penny to be listed first, but paying is certainly an option. Indeed, Pay-Per-Click is now the most significant method you'll have to drive traffic to your sales website.

The biggest player in this marketplace is called Overture at: http://www.overture.com/

They supply search results to many of the big search engines, including Yahoo!

But the popularity of Overture also means that it is very expensive to have your results appear at the top. So, a good trick is to consider some of the 2nd-tier pay-per-click search engines that can still bring you quality traffic, but at a fraction of the cost.

[Overture was the biggest player at the time when this eCourse was written. But now we have a better option - Google Adwords.]

Re-submit your Website regularly

There's plenty of evidence that search engines continue to give you higher listings if you re-submit your site on a regular basis. The problem is that remembering to do so can be a chore.

Others recommend using doorway or entry pages.

What do these do?

They are specially refined index pages, designed to attract a particular search term or phrase. By submitting doorway pages directly to search engines or just waiting for a search engine to crawl around your site and find them, you increase the potential for a visitor (highly targeted to your offer) to come across your sales website.

So, regular site submission and doorway pages should form an important part of your strategy.

Promote yourself via Ezines

Ezine advertising and promotion should form an essential key in your online business success.

An ezine is just an emailed newsletter, and with hundreds of thousands of ezine titles out there, you'll find one (or more likely, many) that is designed to speak to precisely the audience you want to attract.

The tricky part about ezine advertising is finding the right ezine to promote yourself in. Fortunately, help is at hand with the professional and organized Directory of Ezines (included in the Create and Sell Products Online Toolkit).

Once you begin advertising in ezines, you'll soon discover that it is far cheaper to run your advert via something known as a co-op. This simply means that you'll buy your advertising space through a sort of agent, and they will then organize its placement in multiple ezines.

This is a good idea because it is much cheaper (cost per subscriber who sees your ad) to use a co-op service than it would be if you placed your ad in each ezine individually.

Write Articles and Submit them to Ezine Editors

This is one of my favorite approaches to product promotion. You simply write a short article (and I do mean short -- say, 400 to 600 words long) and then submit it to a bunch of ezine editors.

If they like what you've written, they'll probably publish you, and in return for having provided them with some free copy to fill their ezine, they will also publish your "resource box" at the end of your article.

A resource box is simply 4-7 lines which tell the reader a little about you as the author and provide a link to either your sales website or your autoresponder mini-course.

Writing articles for ezines is a simple and incredibly easy way to generate thousands of dollars in sales. You can even use some of the information from your own product. I've done just that with this mini-course, but I of course ensure that the really juicy information is kept for paying customers.

Let me show you what I mean...

For those people who purchase a copy of my own "Create and Sell PRODUCTS online" toolkit, they also receive a special free bonus, which is my private list of hundreds of ezine editors who are looking for good content for their publications. I keep it updated each month, because this data changes very quickly!! Check it out here at Create and Sell Products Online Toolkit.

A quick tip for ensuring that you get a good response from ezine editors is to make a point to personalize the email containing your article.

Building a Links Directory

I'm not going to tell you that this isn't hard work! It can be quite time consuming. But, in my experience, building a links directory can also be a very profitable use of your time.

So what exactly is a links directory?

It's a directory on your own website in which you list useful links for your audience. Each time you add another resource, you email the owner of the website you are recommending and ask if they wouldn't mind linking back to you in return. That's it!

The advantage of this approach is that everyone is doing everyone else a favor. It's a trade, an exchange.

You'll receive a flow of traffic to your website and, since this is not an affiliate program referral, you'll get to keep all of the profits from each copy you sell of your product.
